Virtual Pop Star

It was only a matter of time. This is a Miku Hatsune, a fully virtual pop star. The performer is a 3d hologram and the voice is a computer program manufactured by Yamaha. She's not the first virtual pop star, but she's the most advanced and most popular by far. I have the feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more of this in the coming years.

  9. Meh, not my cup of tea. I'd rather see a hologram of a real person. But it is great that we're starting to use technologies such as this.

  11. I only see a marginal difference to Miley Cyrus and the like.

  12. I think I read somewhere that the Genki Rockets did something similar, though it didn't sound nearly this advanced

  13. Don't compare her to Miley Cyrus! You'll offend Miku! Miku is far more real than Miley could ever be!

  17. at least people can't accuse her lip-syncing

  18. Not trying to offend anyone, but isn't it sorta similar to Gorillaz then, as in an animated band (although their sound isn't produced by Yamaha)

  19. Well, you can bet Weeaboos worldwide just orgasmed, as this is the closest thing to real-life anime that they'll ever get their hands on.

  20. btw it's not really a hologram but it's just an image projected onto a transparent screen.

  25. PERSON WHO CLAIMS MIKU IS LIKE MILEY IS MILEY AND IS JUST JEALOUS OF MIKU'S AWESOMENESS AND REAL FANS.

JKLOL WHO AM I KIDDING, MILEY DUN EVEN HAVE FANS.

    BUT SRSLY, VOCALOIDS ARE AWESOME.
AND THE SONGS ARE MADE BY REAL PEOPLE, VOCALOIDS ARE JUST THEIR INSTRUMENT. C: GOD I'M SO HYPER.

  26. This is better than any pop I hear in the US.

At least it doesn't try to hide that the singer isn't real

  27. So, how do they do the 3D hologram? Is there fog and they use lasers, or is there some "unknown to the United States" technology that they have? It wouldn't be the first...

  28. Wow. For the first time in a long time, my jaw actually dropped.

And hey, she's as real ANY of a thousand plastic pop stars and groups who just happened to be wrapped around warm bodies. Talkin' to YOU, NSYNC. And Monkees. And a lotta folks in between.

  29. That's it... I surrender... Time we all bowed before our future Japanese overlords...

  30. XD you'll see a LOT more of miku and other vocaloids in the future..
Vocaloid is rapiding gaining popularity rofl

  31. There's no holograms here, it's just a projector like what is used in movie theaters.

We don't yet have the technology to make holographic movies like that.

  32. I'd actually like a hologram of Fredy Mercury...

  33. OOOOHHH, IT HURTS SO MUCH!!!!

  34. I guess this brings new hopes for radio actors and pop singers, no more need to be beautiful or use of make-up.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ...Wait, most advanced and popular by far? So what are the Gorillaz then?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why is everyone dissing Miku?!
    She's sooo cool!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. More attractive than just about any other female singer i've ever seen!

    ReplyDelete
  38. apart from the virtual voice, this isn't very far from gorillaz...

    ReplyDelete
  39. What exactly is the point of going to a live concert of vocaloid when it's not really 'live'?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, to be fair, Gorillaz do (did? I dunno if they still perform) the same thing for their live shows. Although I will admit that the crowd waving light-up leeks is a little much for me.

  44. Namgco, your new overlord.September 10, 2011 at 6:20 PM

If she were real, I would perform very sexual things to her.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Im much more fond of the holograms of Gorilaz, I believe they did both the cartoon band/Holograms first anyway...

But I guess Im biased because I love Gorillaz, and dislike miku hatsune.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I somehow worried about the future of music.

sure we got many bad singers and bad bands nowadays. but this is a bit too much.

yes I know Gorrilaz did that too. but there's a difference between 'a real band made song then performed it with hologram because it gonna be ridiculous if they performed with mask' and 'a singer thats not even real, her music is created with a software, autotuned as they pleased and performed it with a 3d hologram'

I imagined myself, if this will be afforable in couple of years, there's no need to be a musician.

what happened to old rock and roll?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Miku is the best, even though some people dislikes her or maybe thinks its a bad idea to have a hologram sing, its worth a shot to try something like that........right?????

    ReplyDelete
  48. my eyes just lit up! I didn't think I would find a Miku video on this site
