Shingo Mama
This is a pretty standard WTFJS video, you've got your man in a dress, dancing kids, weird choreography, but it reaches a whole new level of epic at 2:00. They throw in a little godfather of soul.
Thanks to Lily for sending this in.

Freaky
ReplyDeleteThat's really catchy! Wait, was that James Brown?
ReplyDeleteJapanese Rasta @ !:20
ReplyDeleteI saw Takuya Kimura @2:28...
ReplyDeleteShingo is a famous boy-band guy (band called SMAP). Cameos by his former band mates are in there. Basically it's saying good morning everyone, breakfast is important.
ReplyDeleteCheck him out in the NHK historical drama Shinsengumi. He's totally cool.
I don't think James Brown realized where he even was...
ReplyDeleteOha!
although this could be considered scarring for the children involved, i couldnt help but continue watching in silent admiration.
ReplyDeleteI believe the "Japanese rasta" at around 1:20 was one of their Olympic snowboarders.
ReplyDeleteLike I've said before, it has to be that radiation from the WW2 bombings.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or this is that reference on that Toradora episode when both characters said "Oha"
ReplyDelete/stops being a weaboo
Now this is awesome
-Spikey
Is the boy in 25sec area turn into a women witha bra????????????WTF is it a really women in disgiuse???????????
ReplyDeleteThe god father of soul must really need money
ReplyDeleteoO Bad, Japan, no oranges for you.
ReplyDeleteI should also point out that this was produced about 2000 by Konishi Yasuharu (Pizzicato Five). It even includes his trademark drum roll at the beginning and end. The character is based on a role from a variety show that SMAP members usually are found infesting since 1990.
ReplyDeleteFor a similar theme, look for Geisha Girls (comedy team Downtown, produced by Towa Tei).
I also like that at one point they do the dance from the 3 Amigos, and then finish it with the arm raising from Thriller. Now that's fine choreography.
ReplyDeletekids, run
ReplyDeleteIs there any point in it?????????????? <_>....
ReplyDeleteThis video is awesome. I want that song.
ReplyDeleteactually all smap members do appear xD also the other people are comedians and stuff... XD still... that doesn't change the WTF fact XD
ReplyDeleteMore Shingo Katori:

Rolling Bomber Special!
WTF is up with the guy saying "oha" at exactly 2:42? It looks like he´s in a wheelchair doesn´t have any arms!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how James Brown doesn't seem too bothered by the man in the dress.
ReplyDeleteI dought he's telling the truth about his cooking.
ReplyDeleteThey exploded... WTF
If you don't eat your breakfeast you have to oha?
He speaks english?
Clones?Earthquake? WTF is going on?-_-
Some of the music sounds a lot like a song by Freddie Cannon from the early 60s; the one about making dedications on the radio...
ReplyDeleteThe young girl with ponytails in the yellow t-shirt is absolutely adorable.
ReplyDeleteToo cute for words.
It sounds like they're singing about getting up in the morning, eating their breakfast, and different members of their family. I could be wrong... I'm just learning Japanese, but that's what I'm picking up. It looks like a kid's show. I think we need to send them Barney and some of our scary stuff, just to get even.
ReplyDeleteO.O
ReplyDeleteeither, I've seen this before or it's dejavu
But i'm certain I dreamed this a few days ago.
those indians were the UGLIEST wow.
ReplyDeleteWas living over there when this came out (2000-2001) - and yes like others have commented above the youngest member of SMAP (famous boy band) did this. The SMAP boys were in dramas and other variety show along with the SMAP variety show that was on every Monday night. Think it was in the last couple of years one member was in trouble for drink driving.
ReplyDelete'Oh ha' - what memories!

ReplyDeleteHoly crap. I remember when I live in Guam and a Japanese school came to sort of learn with us (à la "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"). Anyways, when they first came in, they peformed this song! The same choreography too!
ReplyDeleteOpa opa: free kudos' to all motowners in Nihon!
ReplyDeleteMan what a sweet tune!
ReplyDeleteTakuya looks so young...
ReplyDeleteOMG is that some japan baboon obama at 2:39+ :D :D :D
